West Elm Australia recently collaborated with boutique hotel The Atlantic Byron Bay to refresh one of their best-loved rooms and communal spaces, and we’re thrilled to give you a peek inside. Riffing off the coastal cool style of Byron Bay, it conjures a relaxed space that’s super stylish. The makeover celebrates Australian beach culture at its best – after all, we’re kicking off summer right now! With stylist Jason Grant lending his styling prowess to the project, the team has designed a retreat that’s equal parts elevated sophistication and East Coast calm. Think saddle leather, navy, white, earthy timbers and a pop of color.

A perfect marriage of styles, this collaboration channels a little bit of Brooklyn cool into a thoroughly Byron aesthetic for compelling results.

The best bit? The West Elm Bungalow at The Atlantic Byron Bay is now available for bookings.

The Big Chill (Out Zone)

A living space is often the heart of the home – and creating zones dedicated to pure relaxation fosters that year ’round holiday vibe. We love the luxe velvets combined with linen and the coffee table that frames found objects from beach walks. Even that beloved hat becomes part of your installation when placed with intention.

TIP: Go au naturel to ground your room with hits of raw timber and natural fibers.

Earthy Entertaining

A casual entertaining space ensures guests can feel relaxed – and so can you. Pare back the table and create a comfortable environment that’s conducive to late-night conversation. Jason Grant selected a palette that reflects the surrounding area: inky blues paired with earthy tans, creating a natural sense of ease.

TIP: Create visual flow by connecting your palette. Select pieces that match tonally for aesthetic harmony.

Style & Serenity

Shape a haven away from the world by simplifying. Stylist Jason Grant layers white with soothing effect – while velvet and brass accents add a sense of warmth –the perfect canvas for sweet dreams.

TIP: Find pieces that serve dual purpose – such as a lamp that provides a reading light at bedtime, and can charge your phone too.

Triple Threat

When stylist Jason Grant and Kimberly Amos, owner of The Atlantic Byron Bay, teamed up with West Elm – it resulted in the best possible combination of relaxed living. A mix of coastal, industrial and found objects forms an inviting home away from home.

TIP: When staying at The Atlantic, make use of your downtime poolside or within the lush gardens. The resident water dragons will keep you company!
