The holidays are right around the corner, but in many places around the country, it’s still warm enough to eat outside (even if you’re all bundled up in your warmest sweater). Harvest season is a great time to gather friends and family for a special meal and some tasty drinks, so we’ve teamed up with Crown Royal to share three simple cocktail recipes that will complement every part of the fall festivities. Crown Royal Vanilla whisky is a flexible flavor that goes in all kinds of drinks – and even desserts! – so it’s hard to go wrong, even if you’re a cocktail novice.

For a crowd-pleasing harvest party, start the evening off with an updated vanilla Old Fashioned as your guests arrive, then serve a vibrant pineapple cocktail with a hearty main like grilled steak. Elevate the spread with brass barware and fluted acrylic glassware (ours is unbreakable, so it’s perfect for outdoor entertaining). To end the evening, try a “reverse affogato” with warm vanilla whisky poured over coffee ice cream. Yum!

Drink 1: Crown Royal Vanilla Old Fashioned

Serves 1

You’ll need:
– 2 oz Crown Royal Vanilla whisky
– .25 oz simple syrup
– 2-3 dashes of bitters
– Orange peel, for garnish

Instructions:
1. Place whisky, simple syrup and bitters over ice in a mixing glass – give it a stir for about 10-15 seconds.
2. Strain cocktail over fresh ice in a rocks glass.
3. Pare an orange peel and express the oils from the back of the peel over your cocktail.
4. Rub the peel around the rim of the glass and drop the peel into the glass.


Drink 2: Crown Royal Vanilla Piña

Serves 1

You’ll need:
– 2 oz Crown Royal Vanilla whisky
– 1 oz pineapple juice
– .50 oz simple syrup
– .75 oz fresh lime juice
– Grilled pineapple wedge
– 2-3 sliced jalapeño peppers (optional)

Instructions:
1. Pour whisky, pineapple juice, simple syrup, lime juice over ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake for about 30 seconds.
2. Strain cocktail over fresh ice in a rocks glass.
3. Garnish with a slice of grilled pineapple and 2-3 jalapeño peppers, if using.


Drink 3: The Reverse Affogato

Serves 1

You’ll need:
– 2 oz warmed Crown Royal Vanilla whisky
– 2 scoops espresso or coffee ice cream
– dark chocolate shavings

Preparation:
1. Warm up the whisky in a saucepan and cut the heat once it reaches a simmer.
2. Fill glass with espresso/coffee ice cream.
3. Pour warmed Crown Royal Vanilla over the ice cream.
4. Garnish with dark chocolate shavings.
