If you happen to live in a city that has at least one hipster coffee shop and one independent bookstore, you’ve undoubtedly heard the term “shop local” or “shop small” making the rounds in recent years. To shop local is to directly support your local economy and the arts, yes, but it’s really much more than that. Shopping local is about sharing experiences and traditions with those in your community. It’s about taking a step back and slowing down, and it’s about opening your home to one-of-a-kind objects that hold a bit more meaning to them. So what does that mean for us?
Since 2013, West Elm LOCAL has introduced 900+ artisans and their one-a-of-kind products to customers (you!) across the country. We love helping small businesses grow, supporting craft and creativity in communities, and introducing you to designs like wall hangings, ceramic vases, American-made furniture and more.

With that, we’re excited to announce the launch of the new local assortment for Summer 2019. We’ve got some seasoned local makers debuting new products, as well as some new kids on the block. Check out the first wave here, and keep an eye out for more soon!

Honeycomb Studios Ring Dish + Vase
Honeycomb Studios, which has been part of the West Elm LOCAL program since the very beginning, is back this season, adding a new Ring Dish and Beehive Vase to the existing assortment. The Atlanta-based founder, Courtney Hamill, found her passion for ceramics through a pottery class in college. She’s seen her business grow tremendously within the program, allowing her to scale her business up and sell her products nationally. She makes everything by hand out of her ceramics studio so each piece is truly one-of-a-kind.
Craighill Ripple Bottle Opener
Craighill, a small ergonomic goods company based out of a small studio in Brooklyn, is back with their new Ripple Bottle Opener for all your outdoor excursions this summer. The founder, Hunter Craighill, has a design philosophy that is delightfully simple: create things that you would want to have. Craighill’s mission is to design everyday tools that take the frills and fuss out of the equation. What you’re left with are beautiful, elegant and simple products that elevate your everyday life. This new brass bottle opener is the perfect picnic tag-along (and looks mighty good too!).
