It’s often said that the heart of the home centers around the kitchen, and in this case, you can include the open living room + breakfast nook to that saying as well. Located in the Circle C Ranch neighborhood of southwest Austin, Texas, this 3,000 sq. foot home not only has major curb appeal on the outside, but vaulted ceilings that flood the living space with tons of natural light on the inside – not to mention a backyard deck that’s perfect for entertaining! Home owners Phil + Sarah McCanna, along with their two children, recently moved into the home in the past year and were eager to bring the space together.

Through the power of social media, Sarah reached out to Sabrina Consolascio, lead stylist of west elm Austin’s Design Crew via Instagram and began the design process. The two hit it off like they’d know each other for years – a true #InstaFriends story!

Because of the openness of the living room, kitchen + breakfast nook, Sarah knew that she didn’t want the living space to feel blocked off. The solution was to use two Andes Sofas in Worn Metal facing each other, rather than opting for a sectional. “The dueling Andes Sofas will give the McCanna’s more functionality if they ever want to switch up the room, instead of a sectional only being utilized one way,” mentions Sabrina. Because the pair of chairs in the living room swivel, it makes it so easy to turn them around to have a conversation with someone in the kitchen. Added bonus – the Austin Swivel Chairs and the Cora Counter Stools around the kitchen island are a perfect match, both with the leather color in Saddle.

“I was excited to introduce a bold pop of color to the breakfast nook, with the Finley Dining Chairs in Distressed Velvet, Ink Blue,” says Sabrina. “It really draws the eye into the space. An instant conversation starter!” The Abstract Indigo Vase on the table also incorporates the rich blue hue, and its flowers + plants can easily be changed over the months.

With the seasonally favorable temps that Southern Texans get to enjoy year-round, the McCanna’s are able to utilize their back deck with its built-in grill to the fullest. “They love to entertain and knew that ample seating was a must for hosting all their friends + families, while all the kids play in the spacious backyard. This deck is made for parties, so the sectional was a no brainer for her outdoor space,” notes Sabrina. The Portside Sectional + Lounge Chair in Weathered Gray was the perfect option for the deck, as the lighter color tone compliments the similar wood color of the home’s exterior.

Beautiful space all around! The decor that really caught my attention though was the floor lamp and integrated table. Any idea of the manufacturer and if it’s available?

Thank you,

Such a beautiful, airy space. Wondering if you could share the wall colour? We will soon be moving to a new home with vaulted ceilings and many windows to let in the sunlight. I would love to be able to add this colour to my collection of colour choices!
