Architects Ingrid Montoya and Christopher Mechaley go by the Instagram handle @littlehomeofsmiles. It’s a fitting pseudonym, because if we lived in their Hoboken loft, we’d be smiling all the time! Housed within a converted nineteenth century factory, the space sports two bedrooms, one and a half baths, and some seriously covet-worthy windows. “We immediately fell in love with the apartment for the large warehouse style windows,” Ingrid says. In fact, it was the original details and prewar industrial character of the space that led the couple to pursue a minimal look when decorating, the better to allow for the space’s bones to speak for themselves. “We both appreciate minimal design with a relaxed modern aesthetic,” Ingrid continues. “Drawing from an appreciation for natural light, we kept our focus on preserving a light and bright interior with accents of contrast, texture and natural materials.” Although the 895-square-foot space is smaller than their previous digs, Ingrid and Christopher have been able to live large in their small space.
