“I spend a ridiculous amount of time decorating and redecorating our victorian home,” admits Colleen Geohagan, Environmental Engineer, photographer, and co-author of Two Delighted. In the case of Colleen’s Charlotte, NC home, “Victorian” is a bit of a misnomer, but it’s a testament to how her redecorating habits have paid off. The home was in fact built in the 1980s, a new construction interpretation of nineteenth century aesthetics. Although modern attempts at Victorian or Neoclassical interiors can often fall flat (or look like caricatures of their source material), Colleen’s home strikes all the right chords, something that is achieved in part by her own mastery of eclectic style. Throughout the house that she shares with her husband and two cats, Colleen seamlessly melds modern forms, vintage patina, and subtle moments of whimsy for a look that is comfortable and timeless. It might not be of the Victorian era, but this home packs a whole lot of old world charm. Take a peek at the full space below!
