The last time we caught up with Steffy Kuncman, the blogger behind Steffy’s Pros And Cons, she had just purchased and renovated her own home in Long Beach, NY. The year since then has been quite the busy one. Steffy and her husband Matt recently welcomed their new son, Hudson into the world and Steffy began a new project, decorating her cousin’s nearby apartment.
“When I designed the first apartment that we purchased,” Steffy says, “I focused on all things mid-century. With this space, I wanted to keep things fresh and new, and I have been drooling over the grey-on-grey trend. When we first saw the beautiful natural light in the apartment, we knew we had to keep the space light with grey wood floors.” Combining a neutral color palette and textures from fur, marble, bone inlay, and brass, the space is one that feels both timeless and timely. Take a peek at Steffy’s latest work below!
“My goal was to create an inviting place to spend time cozied up, but a space that made you walk in and go ‘wow!'” Steffy says. “The living room is right in the center of the apartment, so the entire home is built around this room!”
“The biggest challenge in designing the space was figuring out what to place above the couch. I tested out tons of different photographs, and thought about putting in a gallery wall, but at the end of the day they all looked too cookie cutter. I am really happy with how the floating shelf came out, and think it adds a special touch.”
“My favorite thing about the home is the beautiful natural lighting,” Steffy says. “It looks airy in the space from morning until night, and the grey color scheme makes the space even brighter!”
