When Lauren Maclean saw her Montreal studio apartment for the first time, she knew that despite the space’s small size, it would make the perfect backdrop for her vision of a classic-meets-modern home. The apartment itself is a classic design-lover’s dream: high ceilings with windows to match, crown molding throughout and, of course, an ornate ceiling medallion perfectly highlighting her modern Mobile Chandelier. Lauren contrasted the classic backdrop of her space with modern + minimal furniture pieces in soft hues. “I am inspired by the style of mid-century modern, but with a cozy and relaxed vibe. Soft colors, textures and lighting have helped keep my space feeling inviting,” Lauren says of the studio apartment. She brought life to the space with large plants, “I also love decorating with plants to make the space feel natural and alive…and who can resist big, green leaves? I am loving the plant trend these days,” she continues. “It’s all about the complementing contrast and I believe my vison of ‘classic-meets-modern’ was a success.” See how she achieved this, below!

Love the classic vs modern contrast in the pictures above. Great combination. I really liked the multiple types of lighting, lamps, and that mirror on the wall.
