As a DIY and interiors blogger, materials and props are a huge part of my work—and having the space to store them is high priority. The challenge is that I live in a one bedroom apartment and my best option for a workspace is setting up shop in a corner of the living room. Consequently, stylish small space solutions were my goal as I set out to re-do my little corner and make it a more functional space.

The lacquer desk was the single best upgrade to my workspace. It’s big enough to sprawl out whatever I’m working on yet compact enough to fit perfectly in the corner. It also makes it possible to maintain a clean and minimal look while packing a ton of storage to help keep the desktop clutter-free.

Adding shelving above and beside the desk maximized storage space for desk accessories, decor, and boxes to hold supplies, plus it puts all the pretty things on display as opposed to where they were all crammed in a closet before.

While the chair is not a part of my storage solutions, it plays an important role in keeping me comfortable at my desk instead of migrating over to the sofa where I’m not nearly as productive. I’m also just a fan of the clean lines and simple shape, consistent with the modern, minimal, and monochrome design of my workspace.
