Patrick Janelle, commonly known by his online pseudonym @AGuyNamedPatrick, has made a profession out of editing down to essentials. His preferred medium, digital photographs posted to Instagram, makes use of small, square-cropped images and tightly worded captions. Through these intimate peeks into his life—world travel, delicious food, beautiful interiors, and “daily cortados”—Patrick has amassed a large following, keen on emulating his beautiful aesthetic. It’s fitting, then, that Patrick would apply this same strictly-essentials sensibility to his home—and at 500-square-feet, it’s something of a necessity. We recently teamed up with him to redecorate his Manhattan digs, pairing some west elm classics alongside brilliant small space solutions. Check out the photos + shop the look below!

“My living room rugs are layered in an unconventional way,” Patric says. “I placed the top Kasbah rug upside down, because I loved the texture and pattern created on its underside.”

“Each piece in my living room is meant to be multifunctional,” Patrick notes. “The Saddle office chair swivels to become a desk chair, and the Terrace nightstand also works perfectly as a side bar.
