West Elm at Mount Hood

Dirty little secret of the west elm world: when Memorial Day has just ended and most people are just beginning to break out their grills and outdoor furniture for the summer, we’re in full-on Holiday mode! Around the country, the weather is warming up and summer gardens are in full bloom, but our offices are covered in fake snow, LED lights, and unseasonably chunky faux fur throws. Oh, and we’ve just begun photography on our December catalog. How, you might wonder, do we manage to get that magical mid-winter look when shooting in the middle of summer? In the case of this year’s Spark Wonder catalog, it meant a journey to northern Oregon’s Mount Hood.

West Elm at Mount Hood

One of the few places in the lower 49 States that still has snow in June, this volcano is the tallest point in Oregon and features stunning 360-degree mountain vistas, making it the perfect location for our catalog team to capture some picture-perfect Holiday imagery. After taking their snow boots and parkas out of storage, our team trekked with renowned photographers Gentl and Hyers to the top of Mount Hood for some seriously beautiful Christmas-In-June fun. Check out all of the jaw-dropping photos below!
