Journalist H. L. Mencken was famously quoted calling the Martini “the only American invention as perfect as the sonnet.” And though its history is muddled, it is very clear that the gin + vermouth cocktail is a staple of our nation’s liquor scene. While most of us have, at some point in our lives, felt that unmistakeable cool rush of confidence while ordering a Martini I can safely say, knowing exactly how to make the drink is even cooler.

Makes 1 Cocktail

    2 oz. Plymouth Gin
    1 oz. Dolin Dry Vermouth
    Lemon twist or olive

Bar Tools

    Mixing glass
    Julep strainer
    Stirring spoon

1. Combine all of the ingredients in a mixing glass and add ice.

3. Pour cocktail using a Julep strainer into a Coupe glass.
4. Garnish with a lemon twist or an olive.
