west elm LOCAL

We’re excited to announce west elm LOCAL! We believe feeling truly at home means connecting with your community — that’s why we’re partnering with local makers + designers to hand-pick unique, regionally sourced pieces for our stores. Many of their one-of-a-kind pieces are completely handcrafted + made to order.

We want each neighborhood store to not only be a place of design + discovery but also an active, communal hub that celebrates and supports local creativity + craft. We’re excited to partner with local artisans + makers + designers to add their unique stories + collections to our assortment, and to give our customers a chance to connect with the people in their community who make their products.

How It Works

Everyone loves a good story — especially one that they can take home. That’s why we make sure that each locally sourced piece — whether in design, form or function (or all three!) — carries the imprint of its maker’s story in a one-of-a-kind way. With this in mind, our shopkeepers hand-pick artisans who live and work in the vicinity of each west elm neighborhood store. We collaborate with each local maker + designer to curate a collection of items that are crafted locally (and often completely by hand).

Once a handful of local artisans are officially on board, we’ll equip each of our store teams with fun, creative ways to tell their stories. We’ll set up a curated in-store assortment, where you’ll notice special signs + hangtags stamped with the word LOCAL — indicating that these products are made by a LOCAL maker or designer based in the area. Items will be grouped together in each store so you can easily shop them all at once.

Once everything’s in place, we’ll throw a party to celebrate the launch! At this event, we’ll officially kick off each store’s LOCAL collections and invite the community to get first dibs on all the LOCAL goods, meet + mingle with the makers themselves so you can hear the stories firsthand and just hang out!

Throughout the year, we’ll host special LOCAL maker events where customers can meet the makers, hear their stories and be inspired. From styling tips to crafty projects, we make it simple to get to know the people behind your products, and give back to your own community by supporting local artisans. Customers can follow their local store on Facebook + Instagram for the latest on in-store events.

I would like to know how to submit my work to West Elm Local. I make Green Living themed greeting cards which unique recipes inside for the home, such as how to clean with used lemons, how to make hairspray from citrus peels, and I particularly think my herbal recipe cards would resonate well there. Please let me know how I can apply. Thanks

I am a designer of vintage painted furniture, wine bottles, and etc. I am looking for an outlet to show
and sell my items. Do you handle this type of item?
