Hannah and Chayce Wilson, the duo behind home renovation + design company From the Ground Up, aren’t afraid to take on a challenge. Case in point: this completely run-down Dallas house turned modern, family-ready home. When the couple first acquired the house, it was far from the Scandinavian-inspired space that it is today, “Besides the vandalism, flooding, and furry animals living inside, it was very dark and sectioned off” says Hannah. The couple was able to completely transform the run-down home, but not without challenges. “We encountered just about everything that you can encounter when renovating a home,” she continues. “From walls caving in, to the mysterious black lagoon in the pool—it was a challenge from beginning to end.” Despite the obstacles they faced through the project, the space turned out to be exactly what the couple had hoped for. “We brought in a bunch of windows and skylights, as well as painting the interior completely white. Add in a healthy dose of succulents, and it’s a place you don’t really want to leave.” Check out the before and after photos below!

Ideas are nice, the design choices of furniture and such are good for weight and balance. Why the mix of blue and yellow base colors? It visually chops up the room as a whole. Each choice in itself is good, but these colors together, my eye stops as it moves to from one item to the next. (ie: floor, couch, wall, cabinet, etc.)

Nice make-over to a fresh, updated look – except for the yuck ceiling fans and the weird hairy pink poofy stool…
