“We’ve always been considered a flyover state,” designer Jon McCoy says of Oklahoma, “but so many cool things are happening.” Jon and his wife Candice are the owners of Love Well Handmade, a design and textiles company that calls Oklahoma City home. Founded shortly after the couple’s first set of twins turned a year old, the company originally sprang from the desire to create better alternatives to the childrens’ clothes available on the market. Now designing and manufacturing everything from stationery to silkscreened home goods, Love Well has spread its roots significantly since its inception, all the while finding support and camaraderie from OKC’s creative community. “I think Oklahoma City is a great place to start a business,” Candice says, “ a lot in part, because the creative community is fairly close.” We recently joined Jon and Candice on a tour of Love Well’s hometown and got a chance to take in this vibrant and inspiring community.
