What could YOUR small business do with $25,000?

To support local makers and designers, we’re excited to offer a $25,000 small business grant to one local artist, maker, or designer — plus the potential to be included in our assortment for three runners up!

We carry locally made + designed products in 17 of our stores, and by the end of 2014, west elm will be supporting over 200 artists + makers across the country.

Now we want to help more maker businesses grow from the ground-up. So click here to enter or share with a maker you know!

Enter to win! Submissions will be accepted between 8.12.14 – 9.9.14. Winners will be announced in November.

I have been trying to submit for the grant and have been unsuccessful. It won’t let me upload the images and after hitting submit, it goes to a blank page. I have tried several browsers with the same results. Perhaps it is a server problem but regardless, is there any other way to apply?

Hi Matt — there is not another way to apply. The submission period of the contest ended on 9/9/14 at 12 a.m. EST. Unfortunately we can not accept applications that were submitted after that time, or were in the process of being submitted but were not completed before that time. Thank you so much for your interest. If you didn’t get a chance to submit, be sure to check back next year.

Hello. I learned about this today and have spent the last 3 hours writing my submission. When I went to submit it at 8:35pm (pacific time). The website froze up and wouldn’t allow it to process. I tried different servers and it will still not load. Maybe too many submissions at one time? Is there anyway I can email my response? This would help our small business and I really believe it would be a great fit for west elm.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am an owner/designer at Tanti Colori (www.tanticolori.com). I prepared diligently my application for the small business grant and tried several times to submit it through Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Only Safari allowed me to upload pictures of my products. When I tried to submit my application I received an error message – your system did not accept it.
I am an independent designer and small business owner and I was very interested in introducing my products to your company and general public. Unfortunately, I was cut off from this chance due to technical issues.
I would be very grateful, if you could make an exception and allow me to resubmit my application in a different way. Please consider my kind request. I was really, really excited about this great opportunity.
Sincerely,
Bozena Golebiowska, Tanti Colori (http://tanticolori.com/)

Hello Aaron,

According to the official rules, the entry period ended at 11:59 pm EST on 9/9/14. This differs from what you stated in the comments below. I did complete and submit my application well prior to 8:59 pm PST (The cut off for the west coast). On my initial submission (the only time I was successfully able to load images) I was brought to a blank page. There was no indication the submission was received or not. On additional attempts, pictures were loaded to multiple browsers without success. It would seem the the submission form was not working leading up the the cut off period. Or possibly confusion on West Elm’s part as to what the official closing time was. Is there anyone I can contact and speak with in person?
