Before + After: Of A Kind’s Work Loft
Erica Cerulo and Claire Mazur started Of A Kind over 3 years ago with a vision for a different kind of shopping site, but no office space. They worked from their apartments amongst mountainous paper piles and cardboard boxes.
When they finally found the perfect Manhattan work loft this year, Claire + Erica designed it from scratch to be bright, functional, and fun.
Read on to get inspired by Of A Kind’s office transformation, with Erica + Claire’s tips for designing a new office space!
“Don’t feel like you have to get the whole thing done at once. It can take a lot of time and money to pull together the type of office you want, and it’s much less overwhelming if do it in bits and pieces over the course of several months. It’s also easier to see what you actually need (vs. what you think you need) when you do it that way.”
“Having a west elm couch = life-changing.” – Erica Cerulo
“The rolling shelves work perfectly—they break up the big room without eliminating the airiness.” – Erica Cerulo
“One of the best decisions we made was to make white the predominant color in the office. It really helps to make it feel light and open and unfussy. Offices tend to get really cluttered. There are stacks of paper and laptops, and post-its—and in our case, clothes and accessories—everywhere. But by keeping most of our furniture white or light-colored, the clutter doesn’t feel so overwhelming.”
