What You’ll Need
- 1¼ cups sugar
1 cup water
Juice from 1 lemon
½ cup white wine
½ cup roughly chopped fresh ginger
2 pears, peeled and halved with cores scooped out
What You Do
Bring everything to a simmer in a medium saucepan, then reduce the heat to medium-low to keep the mixture just barely simmering. Cook for 10-20 minutes, or until the pears are mostly cooked and tender. Cooking time will vary depending on the ripeness of the fruit. Transfer everything to a storage container and place in the refrigerator to cool. Remove the pear halves from the syrup when ready to slice and use.
