before san francisco living room bay window design decorate ideas

Sarah and Darren recently moved into a new apartment in San Francisco and worked within the strict “no painting!” and “no nails!” parameters to furnish their living room with a beach/city theme that relies on furniture and textiles to energize the space with color, pattern and texture.

I’ve never fell in love with a curtain the way I did with the Painted Ikat print. It has this amazing painterly quality to it, and it feels so organic and calming. These panels inspired our entire living room color palette. It was pattern love at first sight.

The couch we inherited from Darren’s previous roommates. It came as a sectional, but we unhooked it to create a walkway to the table and chair by the bay window. It made the living room feel way larger by doing this, and it created three separate sitting areas. I’ve never had a rich, navy blue couch before — and I’m obsessed!

We oftentimes eat dinner and drink wine in the little bay window dining nook, and we joke that it’s our own little café patio.

Thanks Sarah + Darren!

Nice, however curtains would look even better if they touched the floor….

Wonderful color & texture combinations and the curtains add a nice dimension to the room. Their furniture placement has given the room an appearance of being larger than it is. What a great room to come home to after a long day of work.

You should have checked to see if the curtains came in 95″ length. You can raise the rod higher if need be. Otherwise, great job!

That plant is called Ficus Lyrata. The one on the pictures is about 6 -7 years old.
Good job !

JOEAARON, good question. It is a Ficus Lyrata. It is one of my favorite trees. It grows under the canopy of large forest or rain forest. Not expensive, but impressive in decor settings.

If the curtains went down to the floor it would drag the room down. Make it look a bit heavy!!! Old fashion so to speak!

Looks great! However, the length of the curtains looks odd. They would look better if they were just skimming the floor.
