Kristen and her fiancé wanted to use this apartment in Dallas “to grow up and grow into” while they start their life together. It was important for the space to be comfortable, easy to entertain in and of course — reflect their personal style.
A collaborative effort was in order. My fiancé instantly loved the concrete side tables which I balanced with the large silver teardrop lamps, adding a touch of femininity to the extremely masculine sides. The Nordic style rug kept the space neutral but livened it up adding a new the texture. I always turn to pillows to add character and I found exactly what I was looking for in the sheep hair and metallic throws.
There are trinkets and decorative items throughout the remainder of the space from West Elm (and the whole house!) but the Scribble Curtains in Gray that flank the living room window are the perfect frame. We tried to keep the palette of the main items more neutral while introducing colors through the accessories. Most likely because that’s how I like to style all my spaces and even myself!
I think the most fantastic find was the Rustic Kitchen Island that we repurposed as a bar. Adding a large rectangular Lacquer Tray in a bright blue hue not only served as a resting space for drink glasses and bottles of our favorite liquors but also added a punch of fun color. If an inside bar isn’t in the cards down the road we feel like this piece can be transformed easily to a kitchen island or even placed outdoors with the right finishing!
My favorite piece in the room has to be the bright reupholstered chair that I inherited from my grandma when she passed away. Although the green velour fabric didn’t fit our style or the room but a few yards of this fun fabric helped us round out our new living room! The metallic bar pillow adds the right amount of comfort for the lucky squatter. We hope you enjoy viewing the space as much as we did creating it!
