west elm Sydney at Bondi Junction was thrilled to host its first in-store event last month, an Etsy Craft Party!

The event was part of Etsy’s one-day global celebration of meeting and making, with the theme of “craft for community.” Sydney craft-based designer Kitiya Palaskas popped into our new Sydney store to show the huge gathering of avid crafters how to make colourful paper flowers.

Furniture displays were transformed into crafting stations and covered with mountains of crepe paper and tissue, and it didn’t take long for the talented crowd to start improvising on Kitiya‘s technique and come up with vivid dahlias, delicate peonies and so much more.┬áNature didn’t stand a chance next to these beauties!

Our friends at the Williams-Sonoma Cooking School next door baked up a big batch of cookies (the Momofuku Milk Bar Corn Cookies were a favourite), and crafters swapped their floral creations for cookie bags at the end of the night.

What a stunning sight the hundreds of flowers made en masse!

The colourful bouquets were donated to the Sydney Children’s Hospital for its young patients and tireless staff to enjoy. We can’t wait for the next party, Sydney – you sure know how to celebrate!
