bathroom before renovation

Heather of Southern State of Mind wanted to make a big splash in her little guest bathroom. So she repainted, added more useful storage, and designed around a nautical theme that was inspired by none other than our Dusty Navy Stripe Shower Curtain! We think that the renovation turned out great. Take a look for yourself…

Storage ladder - 6-26-BATHROOM-03

When I spotted the west elm shower curtain, I knew it would be the perfect launching point for a bathroom in desperate need of some style. The challenge was that I needed the space to function for adults as a guest bath, but also for a fun crazy toddler. My style is Southern Modern Coastal, and this shower curtain is perfect. I hope you enjoy the space as much as we have!

Great design for a small bathroom — you achieved your goal of making it adult- and kid-friendly!

That looks so much better! It just goes to show you what a different paint and some accessories can make.

Love the new sink. Where did you find it? I have a closet size bathroom and this could be perfect!

June 26, 2013

I’m just a little worried about the ladder sitting on top of the toilet.

The shift to white from beige is welcome but the dark splotches are hard to look at. Overall it Could be so much better. You keep choosing designers that like very busy looks. Simpler is far more attractive.

That sink is available @ Lowes & Home Depot (no, I don’t work there, I’m just obsessed with renovating)

Dying to know where they got the ladder/towel rack from too.

@THELADYTIGER I found the answer on Heather’s blog:
Ladder Towel Rack
Found a random ladder thingie at the Goodwill and converted it to a towel rack. Painted it a dark brown to match the new vanity.
Is there anything a can of spray paint can’t fix? Extra benefit? Guest towel storage and visual height for the small space.

I like it & it appears it was done on a modest budget, since they kept the tiled walls. I would have changed the floor tile, however. It looks dated. I redid my tiny bath completely and got rid of my tub and had a lovely, stand-up shower w/bench and frameless glass doors put in. AND….I did beadboard half-way up with pale, pale straw-colored grasscloth wallpaper above the beadboard. Looks upscale-cottage and beautiful!

That towel ladder looks like the one from our bunk bed. I’m wondering how it’s secured? If you pull a towel does the ladder fall off the tank?

Love how this turned out! Small accents make a big impact. If she was on a budget, she chose smart items that really made sense and gave her bathroom the ‘nautical’ update she wanted! NICELY DONE!
