For all the indoor gardening novices who need help keeping their leafy friends alive, we asked Carmen Devito of Groundworks Inc. and west elm Market’s Brooklyn Blend Potting Soil to create care sheets for 8 of her favorite houseplants. Use them to greenify your home this spring!

Name: Button Fern (Pellaea Rotundifolia)
Light: Partly Shade-Filtered Light
Water: Medium to High (2 to 3 times a week – more if it’s in a tiny pot)
Care: Moderate
Special Need: High Humidity

This sweet little New Zealand native is a great terrarium plant due to its compact size and slow growing nature. If your space is limited and have little experience with ferns, you want this one. A great way to keep ferns happy is to place them on a tray of wet pebbles and group a bunch of these and other moisture lovers together to help increase the humidity.

Get a new houseplant guide from Carmen every week on the Front&Main blog! See them all here.
