Color and light! It was so exciting to spot some west elm in the bright and colorful transformation of Bri Emery and Arian Soheili‘s new living room by Emily Henderson. The clever mix of vintage, new and re-purposed objects create the perfect mix and expresses the creative couple’s personal style…

The space has incredible light, which is why they decided to rent it. And instead of painting the walls or doing some wallpaper, I decided to bring in color in some of the major pieces of furniture to keep it bright, without being busy.

For more images of the transformation (and all the resources!) see Emily’s post at Style by Emily Henderson.

Beautiful change! I really like the pretty pop of color that the teal couch lends to the room!

It’s amazing how much brighter the room looks. Love the mixture of colors, textures and patterns!

“Keep it bright, without being busy”? Seriously? It’s such a busy room! I’d cut the number of flowers and knick knacks by at least half…and all the tables and ottomans, just too much for me.

April 4, 2013

Fantastic!! Of course it doesn’t look like anyone really “lives” there! No kids, no pets, no messy husband—just kidding! But really would be nice to have a beautiful room!!!

Too many different “legs” everywhere gives the room a frantic feel — but I LOVE the color and light and the sofa looks fabulous.

Love the bright change but needs some editing with the accessories.

Toooooooo much stuff

Love the colors and textures!

too busy, too many small things. things don’t seem to flow together. The sofa makes a nice statement but did they have to reupholster it? That’s kinda spendy. The brighter room seems to be a photoshop filter rather than a change of furniture/accessories.

yikes! i prefer before

I love Emily!!! I would give anything to have her work her magic in my living room!!

Cluttered and uninviting.

it’s a beautiful makeover but a little bit busy.

Omg…way to busy…my eye needs at least one resting spot.
Don’t know where to look first….wouldn’t want to come home to this after a busy day.

I think this space is more than inviting! The bright colors and textures are perfect for the creative couple that lives there!! 🙂 I think Emily did a splendid job!

AT first glance it’s great, love the colors but way too many accessories. Looks very cluttered. Personally it would drive me crazy and how would you ever keep it clean! I think the clutter really detracts from the light cheery feeling and color of the room.

April 11, 2013

I think as a whole it really looks busy but I bet standing in the room, you’d be enchanted by all of the wonderful individual pieces.

Such a joyful space!

Beautiful space! Love your style of mixing colors, styles, textures and pattern – so inspirational! Where is the black and white fabric from and what are your favorite online fabric sources? I’m looking to reupholster a new mid century kitchen set. Thanks!

This is a GREAT room. So bright.

What kind of big plants are those in the window? I love their shape and size!

where is the chair and ottoman from? Is the couch new or is it re upholstered? where is the coffee table from and the etegeir (shelving) in the corner? Traditionally NOT my style but I am LOVING this!
