Taylor Sterling founded Glitter Guide on the belief that sequins are appropriate no matter what the occasion, and the Bay Area-based blog has made a confident splash on the internet ever since. Some of Taylor’s favorite Fall picks are featured in our newest catalog and online, so we wanted to discover more about what makes Taylor’s style her very own…

Why did you first start Glitter Guide, and what feeds your passion to keep it going?
I wanted to create a fun, feminine, and positive place to inspire and encourage people to sparkle from the inside out. I’m constantly inspired by the women we feature on Glitter Guide, whether it’s Sarah Lederman’s stylish Miami home or Stacy and Sarah’s amazing jewelry business Frieda & Nellie. All of these features inspire me (and hopefully our readers), and encourage me to work hard and be a better person.
How would you describe your personal style?
My style is very moody. I’m kind of an emotional dresser, but most of the time I dress classic with a feminine and fun twist.
What are some of your favorite go-to sources for inspiration?
I love Diane Von Furstenberg. Right now I’m reading her book, A Signature Life. Movies like Amelié and Midnight in Paris always get my creative juices flowing. When it comes to blogs, there are too many to name. The friends that I’ve made through blogging are a constant inspiration to me!
What is it about glitz and sparkle that speaks to you?
It’s simple. I’m just drawn to it. It’s fun and glamorous. But our site is not all about glitter and sparkle. It’s more about inspiration and what makes people shine.
Congrats on getting married this summer! Did you incorporate any of your own tips in the wedding planning?
Thanks! Yes! I definitely worked on a decadent dessert display. I also worked hard at my table setting design! The biggest thing was remembering that design is important, but it’s more about making sure the guests have a great time!
How has Glitter Guide evolved since you first started?
I don’t think we’ve changed what we post about. It’s more about how much better the design gets. And we just implemented a GG shop where readers can see our favorite items or shop our stories.
You’ve got some great food posts on the blog. If Glitter Guide had a “signature recipe,” what would it be?
It would have to be the White Chocolate Confetti Popcorn. It’s very fun and unexpected and that’s kind of our style.
