FEATURED: Baltic Dining Collection + Round Wooden Umbrella
WHY IT WORKS: Rachel and her husband discovered their ideal mix of modern outdoor furniture that utilized the durability of aluminum and the look and feel of hardwood…

When my husband and I purchased our home in July of 2011, one of our favorite features was the ample deck space and spectacular view it offered. We immediately knew we wanted to utilize our deck as an extension of our indoor living space, and could not wait to begin entertaining! First, however, we needed to find the perfect outdoor dining furniture to host our friends and family.

For almost a year, we searched for an outdoor dining set that would both complement the interior of our home and satisfy my and my husband’s taste. He preferred the aesthetic and durability of aluminum, while I was more drawn to the look and feel of teak, eucalyptus and other hardwoods. Finally, we found The Baltic dining collection, and it was the perfect compromise! The Baltic Dining Collection‘s combination of white powder-coated aluminum frame and honey finished eucalyptus wood not only suited both our tastes, but complemented various furnishings within our home, including the stairway banister.

Now that we have been able to use our new outdoor dining set, we could not be more pleased. The white umbrella helps keep the deck space airy and light, while the comfortable steel outdoor cushions tie in perfectly with the color of our vinyl siding. We recently added a pop of color by incorporating a bright yellow potting bench featuring an assortment of herbs and bright flowers.

The Baltic Dining Collection fit our aesthetic perfectly, offered the seating capacity we needed for entertaining, and has made our new house feel more like home!

Bought this set, and loved it the first summer we owned it. The rain caused the umbrella to rust, but we didn’t think anything of it. After one winter, the veneer on the dining set started chipping (it’s not solid eucalyptus). After 2 winters, everything is peeling and the exposed wood is cracking. We followed care instructions and also purchased the furniture covers. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing outdoor furniture from West Elm unless you live in extremely mild weather year-round, or you plan to use this indoors.
