These handmade quilts by Kansas City-based Etsy seller Kim Eichler-Messmer have us swooning for color-blocked comfort of our own! Kim teaches surface design and quilting in the Fiber department of the Kansas City Art Institute and also finds time to maintain a vibrant Etsy shop full of colorful handmade quilts and pillows.
Kim’s colorblocked quilts are all 100% cotton and hand-dyed. If you’re interested, she frequently shares her process — from dyeing to sewing to starting all over again — on her blog.
Kim’s quilts range from tiny (only 17″ x 18″ — perfect for hanging on the wall as art), to small (about 40″x50″) to queen-size (85″ x 90″). She embraces the use of quilts as wall art and we liked that idea so much that a sampling of Kim’s quilts are featured in the new west elm catalog — page 106 of 2012 catalog #1. See how our stylists paired Kim’s quilts with other furniture, accessories and lighting from west elm: Etsy: Handmade at Home
More of Kim’s hand-dyed cotton quilts, pillows and hand-dyed fabric are available from her Etsy shop Kim E-M.
