Our popular Parsons Desk is frequently a star in our Home Run features — but we’d never seen it in hot pink before! Spotted on Design*Sponge, this custom pink Parsons is the work of Naomi Stein of Design Manifest.
Naomi works with her father to run Design Manifest — a Philadelphia based Design & Build firm. In addition to her professional design work, Naomi blogs about design inspirations and her personal design projects at the Design Manifest Blog.
Naomi was lucky to score a secondhand Parsons Desk with Drawers for only $40. Though the original chocolate finish was scratched and dented, she wasn’t deterred. After lightly sanding the veneer surface, she painted the entire desk in a high gloss hot pink (she used Glidden’s Very Berry).
While Naomi is happy with her desk she suggests getting a glass top cut to size for the desk surface — her laptop gets really hot and melts the high gloss paint! If you’re considering painting wood furniture, invest in a finishing lacquer or polyurethane sealant — or use an oil-based enamel paint.

LOVE this. Where did she even find a secondhand Parsons desk? I’ve been looking everywhere so I can do something like this. She got a lucky deal.
